Fighting and the Holidays

I don't know about you other moms out there, but I cannot stand for either of my boys hearts to be broken, especially the baby. Well I wanted to blog about this because I don't want to forget it. My boys are four years apart. Mainly they get the same things, but they have started asking for different things, especially this year. So when Gage came home from Miss Lissa's with the first gift of the season. I knew we were in for a fight. It was a glo-doodle. Gavin wanted it so bad, but Gage did not want to share. I had an idea. I explained to Gavin that he was going to get something from someone that he was not going to want to share, so I was not going to make Gage share this toy. Being seven almost eight, he understood and was cool because Gage did hand it over every once in a while. I explain to Gage that Gavin is not going to share with him also. So you are thinking - Okay MacKinzy get to the point. Okay here is the point. We are at Granny and Papa's house opening gifts. The cousins have drawn names, so you don't know what you are going to get. Gavin got a remote control truck, and he was so excited. Gage got a race track, and he was excited. PROBLEM: Gavin can open his and play. Gage cannot. There are too many pieces, etc. So Gage wants Gavin's. BIG PROBLEM!! Those crocodile tears start rolling with Gage saying I want to play with Gavin's toy. I have to remind that poor baby that he did not share, so Gavin does not have too!

Man! Anyways, here are pics from Christmas Eve of Gage, Gavin, and Ray putting together that race track before we go to bed! :) Finally a happy baby! (Check out Gage's faces! Do you think he was really happy?!? Oh no! Gavin was helping! I swear; I can't win for losing!)

Re: Fighting and the Holidays

I feel your pain. But I can remember fighting with my brothers when I was young. It's going to happen, and it happens with my two boys too. But, all of our kids are just going to have to understand how to share and respect each other's possessions too. It is hard, I know.
